Brent Carlson

As a principal of Spec-Built, Brent is highly dedicated to the quality of every job and the complete satisfaction of every client.  From Brent’s perspective, one of the most important aspects of a successful job is good communication.  His strong relationships with subcontractors, architects, landlords and brokers ensure that communication.  As a result, the needs and expectations of his customers are consistently surpassed.

As a graduate of St. John’s University in Minnesota, Brent started his career with Trammel Crow in property management.  In this role, Brent gained important perspective on commercial construction from a tenant and landlord point of view.  Brent brought that experience with him when he joined Spec-Built in May of 2000. As a project manager and estimator initially, he gained important knowledge and experience in commercial construction.  From scheduling, ordering materials, and coordinating subcontractors to quality control, problem solving, and value engineering, Brent’s experiences over the past 20+ years have prepared him to provide superior service to every Spec-Built customer.

When not at Spec-Built, Brent enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids.  Most weekends will find him on a soccer field, watching a dance competition, or working on a project in his own home.

Terry Carpenter

In 2015, Terry joined Spec-Built and began his career in commercial construction. Initially working as a superintendent, Terry became well versed in coordinating subcontractors, problem solving in the field, and quality control. His strong organizational skills, thorough preparation, and excellent attention to detail are the qualities that allowed Terry to quickly move into the role of project manager and, subsequently, become a principal at Spec-Built.

Prior to his experience at Spec-Built, Terry graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  From 2011 to 2014, Terry worked as a police officer for the Southlake Department of Public Safety.  Serving as an officer, Terry further developed his strong communication skills and ability to find positive solutions when conflicts arise.  The reliability, calm demeanor, and teamwork that were essential in his role as an officer translate exceptionally well to his current role of leadership at Spec-Built.

When not on a job site, Terry enjoys spending time with his wife, Brooke, and their two children, Caleb and McKenzie.  When he has the opportunity, he likes to be outdoors playing golf, mountain biking, camping, kayaking, or skiing.
